V Day (2)

V-Day 2025 Call to Writers

Call to writers: Submit your work!

Being human is a Yes &___ experience. Yes there is pain. And there is joy. Yes we experience the unjust. And, we are empowered to move forward or to laugh.

You are invited to be a part of V-Day 2025. Share your voices, experiences, truth, and story with the theme being…

Yes & ___

What is V-Day?

A global activist movement dedicated to ending violence against all women, including cisgender, transgender, and those with fluid identities who face gender-based violence.

At WWfaC V-day started as a reading of the Vagina Monologues, and morphed into our own community event where people share their writing about gender, discrimination, sexuality, or hurt/violence through poetry, humorous essays, and storytelling.

This year, WWfaC is taking this back to its former glory as a ticketed event. This will not be a circle. Readers will be at a podium, and the event will raise funds to support the work WWfaC does in Domestic Violence Shelters and with Girls at risk of being unhoused.

How to get involved?

Write! (or Share what you’ve written) Write about the Yes & ___ in your life. Topics should revolve around gender, violence, and sexuality. Take inspiration from what the V in V-Day stands for: Victory, Violence, Voices, and Vaginas. If your piece isn’t a clear Yes &____  writing, no worries. We are acknowledging all points of view with a Yes &_____ attitude.

Use humor. Use truth. Use both. Write what’s right for you.

Selected readers and pieces will read at our V-Day event the weekend of  February 28th, 2025.  You can read your own or submit anonymously and a reader will be provided.

How to submit your writing piece?

Submit your piece by December 1, 2024. (Before submitting, please read your piece aloud with a timer. It should be three minutes or less in length.)

Pieces can be submitted as a Word doc, pdf, or google doc.

Please, include your name and email. (Only two organizers will see your name if you want to remain anonymous and have your writing read by another reader.)

Answer to these three questions at the top of the page of your writing:

  •  Do you want to remain anonymous and have a reader chosen for you?
  • What dates the weekend of February 27-March 2 are you available?
  •  Can you attend virtually or in-person?

A committee will make final decisions in December on who will read at our V-Day event. The event dates will be scheduled around what is submitted. We will decide how many days and in what format the event is at this time. You should hear back by the end of December.

Yes, you have a story to tell. And, we want to hear it.
