Young Women

"In my wildest dreams, I am always returning. I am bringing my daughters here. I am bringing my granddaughters here. I am helping to keep this space safe for the women and girls who enter, so that our stories can go on living."

Young Women Writing for (a) Change

Young Women Writing for (a) Change -

Young Women Writing for (a) Change is a creative writing program for girls and teen-aged women founded in 1996 by Mary Pierce Brosmer as an expansion of her existing Women Writing for (a) Change school in order to form a supportive and encouraging community for girls to write and be heard. Goals are to help girls

  • enhance self-esteem
  • build skills in creative self-expression
  • learn to receive and give honest support and encouragement,
  • develop skills in building and keeping community
  • seek and recognize role models who inspire creative life choices.

All YWWf(a)C programs are designed to help strengthen girls' authentic voices, their ability to "speak out" through writing and in direct interaction, and their faith in their own creative intelligence.

What We Will Do
Create a supportive community of writers
Write together and on our own
Share our writing and listen to others
Explore other modes of artistic expression
Read and discuss stories, articles and poems
