The mission of the Women Writing for a Change Young Women’s Ambassador Program is to connect young women to the power of their voices and the truth of their stories through the art of writing and the creation of community. Women Writing for a Change is continually seeking individuals who work with youth to serve as Young Women’s Ambassadors to the girls and teens in their communities to connect them to Women Writing for a Change.
Young Women’s Ambassadors are teachers, guidance counselors, librarians, school administrators, non-profit professionals, parents, and other youth advocates.

I’m not familiar with Women Writing for a Change, what is it?
Women Writing for a Change is a non-profit organization founded in 1991 and located in Silverton, one mile west of Kenwood Mall. Women Writing for a Change is a non-competitive, safe, and supportive writing community that practices confidentiality, group sharing, writing process, leadership, and empowerment. What kinds of programs does Women Writing for a Change have?
Women Writing for a Change offers programs for adults, youth, and seniors. Adult ‘core’ classes happen during the day and evening throughout the year. Classes run between 8 to 15 weeks. Programs for girls and teens are seasonal (typically fall and winter) for 5-7 weeks. There are also summer camps for girls, teens, and young women. Samplers, one-day workshops, specialty workshops, poetry classes, or shorter term programs are offered throughout the year as well. As a Young Women’s Ambassador, you will be invited to seasonal Young Women’s Ambassador samplers and events so you can get experience what a typical Women Writing for a Change program might look like. Is there a cost to become a Young Women Ambassador?
There is no cost to become a Young Women’s Ambassador for Women Writing for a Change. In fact, as a Young Women’s Ambassador, YOU get a 25% discount on Women Writing for a Change programs. All that we ask is that you help us spread the word about our programs to the young women you work with.
You can do this by forwarding emails, printing and distributing brochures and fliers, talking about our classes, or sharing your own personal experiences with Women Writing for a Change.

What types of girls attend Women Writing for a Change programs?
Girls from all walks of life take part in Young Women Writing for a Change programs. Girls who have some experience or no experience with writing have enjoyed programming. Girls who live in the inner city and the suburbs and anywhere in between have participated and enjoyed Young Women Writing for a Change. Women Writing for a Change is for all girls ages 9-20 and is made by the girls. The Women Writing for a Change process lends itself to creative malleability by participants. Women Writing for a Change facilitates the empowerment of girls by giving them the tools of self-expression to create positive change in their lives. Girls of all abilities, experience levels, and talents are welcomed.
With whom should I share information about Women Writing for a Change?
Women Writing for a Change Young Women’s programs are open to girls ages 9-20 of all interests and abilities. In particular, girls who might benefit from programs are girls who are interested in creative self-expression through writing, art, drama, music, or other media. Girls who may be solitary, withdrawn, or in need of a safe and supportive group environment may benefit from Young Women Writing for a Change.
